Whittlesea took on Lower Plenty in the
Qualifying Final at Epping. The game was originally fixtured to
be played at Eltham and was moved due to the poor condition of
the Eltham oval. Last time both teams met, Lower Plenty hosted
us and took the points. With a full list of players available,
this was the 1st time this season we were at full strength and
after a weeks rest were eager to play. The 1st quarter was an
even affair with Whittlesea holding a 6 point lead at quarter
time. Inaccurate kicking by Lower Plenty in the 2nd quarter
enabled the Eagles to gain the upper hand and extended the lead
at half time. After the main break, the Eagles dominated the
third quarter and led by around 7 goals at the break. Lower
Plenty won the final quarter with 3 late goals in dead time to
reduce the margin to 16 points. Lower Plenty had 22 scoring
shots to the Eagles 18, Bad kicking is bad football.

Next Week it's the Preliminary Final between
Lower Plenty & Diamond Creek with Whittlesea having the weeks
break. Whittlesea will play the winner of that game for the 2010
Premiership cup on September 11th and the loser is out....

Annual General Meeting
The Whittlesea Junior Football Club's Annual
General Meeting will be held on Monday 13th September 2010
commencing at 7:30pm at the Whittlesea Football Club. All
positions will be vacant and are reopened for election. A number
of current committee members are stepping down and these places
need to be filled, it is now time for you to put your hand up,
many hands make light work. You can download the information

On Thursday 5th August gave all
players. members & supporters a chance to say farewell
to Kev. David Cardwell gave a speech on behalf of the
Footy club that Kev would have been proud of. Then at
the end of the service, all members from the club formed
a guard of honour from the rooms to the front gate to
say farewell to a great mate in Kevin Neil Walsh...

Girlz Footy Match A
Great Success
With a massive build
up and much excitement the girlz footy was finally here. On
Saturday night 44 local ladies pulled on the blue and gold and
showed their footy skills. The game was full of laughs and even
a few goals. the young Miss Chloe Molloy and her silky skills
showed everyone how it should be done with a few goals. Riz had
a good day at the office with two goals. But everyone came off
the ground with a smile! A few quick thanks to Tezza, Brent and
Lisa for coaching and all the umpires Dyso,
Jake, Zac, Tara, Tahliah and Karen. Riz and Barts for their help
behind the scenes. We managed to raise $820 for the breast
cancer foundation, thank you to everyone that donated and stayed
around to watch the game.....

Danielle Green
Announces Funding Grant.
Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green with Rob
Mitchell announced today at the Whittlesea Showground's that
funding had been approved for the upgrade of lighting to the
small oval, upgrading of amenities (shower/toilet block) to the
visitors rooms and construction of a Netball court. Minister for
Sport & Recreation James Merlino originally granted the money to
the club after damage was caused to the oval. On behalf of the
club I would like to thank the Minister and Danielle Green for
their continued support of our club. Thanks also to Natasha,
Chrystalla, Melissa, Kelly, Casey & Layce...
